University Code of Conduct

At The Sikkim Global Technical University, we strive to create an environment that promotes excellence, integrity, and respect. As an institution committed to developing the leaders of tomorrow, we emphasize a code of conduct that fosters a culture of responsibility, ethical behavior, and mutual respect among students, faculty, staff, and all members of our academic community.

As a futuristic model for young India, we focus on developing the skills, knowledge, and values that will help our students excel in their personal and professional lives. Our code of conduct is designed to reflect our core values, align with our vision of technology-enabled learning, and contribute to the holistic development of our students.

Core Principles of Conduct

1. Integrity and Honesty

Students and staff are expected to uphold the highest standards of integrity in all their academic, professional, and personal endeavors. Academic dishonesty, including cheating, plagiarism, and falsification of records, will not be tolerated.

All forms of misrepresentation or deception in academic, research, or professional work undermine the values of the university and are subject to disciplinary actions.

2. Respect for Individuals and Diversity

We value a diverse and inclusive community. Discrimination, harassment, bullying, or any behavior that undermines the dignity of others based on race, religion, gender, nationality, or other factors is strictly prohibited.

All members of the university community should treat each other with courtesy, respect, and empathy, fostering an environment conducive to personal and intellectual growth.

3. Professionalism and Responsibility

Students are expected to maintain professionalism in all academic and extracurricular activities, adhering to deadlines, following through on commitments, and contributing positively to team projects.

Responsibility extends to the proper use of university resources, including technology, laboratories, and libraries. Misuse or unauthorized use of university facilities is prohibited.

4. Academic Excellence and Innovation

As a university committed to developing trends and skills, we encourage academic excellence, critical thinking, and a passion for innovation. Students should strive for continuous improvement, engage actively in learning, and contribute meaningfully to academic discussions and projects.

Students are expected to adhere to all academic policies and guidelines, including those related to attendance, assignments, exams, and ethical research practices.

5. Technology Ethics and Use

Given our focus on technology-enabled learning, students are expected to use university technology and digital platforms ethically and responsibly. This includes respecting intellectual property, following guidelines for digital conduct, and refraining from cyberbullying, hacking, or illegal online activities.

Students should protect the integrity and privacy of their own and others’ digital information and avoid any actions that could harm the university’s online and technological systems.

6. Health, Safety, and Well-being

The well-being of students, faculty, and staff is a top priority. Students are expected to comply with health and safety regulations and contribute to maintaining a safe campus environment.

We encourage a balanced approach to academics, extracurricular activities, and personal well-being. Students should seek support when needed and promote mental and physical health within the university community.

7. Environmental Responsibility

As a part of our commitment to sustainable development, we urge all members of the university to engage in environmentally responsible practices, such as minimizing waste, conserving energy, and supporting sustainability initiatives.

Students should participate in university-led environmental programs and respect the university’s efforts to create a sustainable campus.

8. Social Responsibility and Ethical Conduct

Students are encouraged to participate in social and community service activities that contribute to societal well-being. This aligns with our goal of fostering leadership, innovation, and ethical behavior both inside and outside the university.

Engaging in any form of illegal or unethical activity, both within the university and in external environments, is unacceptable.

Consequences of Violating the Code of Conduct

Violations of the university’s code of conduct will be taken seriously and may lead to disciplinary actions, including warnings, suspension, or expulsion, depending on the nature and severity of the infraction. We aim to handle all issues fairly and transparently, ensuring that due process is followed.

The Sikkim Global Technical University’s code of conduct is designed to uphold the values of integrity, respect, innovation, and responsibility. By adhering to these principles, we will continue to build a community that thrives on collaboration, creativity, and respect, and prepares our students for success in the global workforce.

We trust that all members of our university will contribute to maintaining a positive, productive, and inclusive environment, where the pursuit of knowledge and personal growth can flourish.

Sincerely,
The Sikkim Global Technical University
